1 Steel Storm Ran two lengths back from the winner last start at Mombetsu when fresh. Has a lot of early speed and drawn the rails. Expect to be right up there.
2 Kurino Kenryu Returns from nine week let-up and having first start for a new trainer. Has run in seven races without placing. Not in this.
3 Tokai Etoile Finished midfield last start at Mombetsu when resuming. Capable of racing on speed and placed at Kochi in only second-up attempt. Knockout hope.
4 Lofty Phrase Won last start to break maiden at Mombetsu when first up. Has a lot of early speed and Takafumi Hattori a bonus. Commands serious thought.
5 Ebanista Amongst the placegetters last start running third at Mombetsu when fresh and goes well at the track. Looks the leader. Rates highly.
6 Firstbahn Finished two lengths off the winner last start at Mombetsu when resuming. Has plenty of early speed and a likely leader but ran fifth at Kochi in only second-up attempt. Forward showing no surprise.
7 Precious Ace Unplaced in career. Has plenty of early speed and a likely leader but has not won at Mombetsu previously. Appears safely held.
8 Daimei Fuji Back after 16 week break. Finished worse than midfield at only start at Kyoto. Seems unlikely.
9 Smart Altair Ran two lengths back from the winner last start at Mombetsu when first up. Capable of racing on speed. Place hope.
